Whirlpool India has launched a new range of single-door refrigerators under its ‘No Tension’ lineup. It focuses on automatic defrosting, a feature usually missing in this category. The new range includes the VitamagicPro and IMPRO PLUS series; with this, the company tries to address a long-standing complaint of users of single-door refrigerators.
Manual defrosting remains one of the most common problems in this segment. Users often have to switch off the appliance, empty its contents, and wait for ice buildup to melt. This process is not only time-consuming but also a little troubling, particularly during high-usage periods such as summer. Because once the fridge is restarted, it does take a little bit of time to start cooling things.
That’s why Whirlpool says that its new range aims to eliminate this issue by introducing automatic defrosting in single-door refrigerators. This feature is more commonly seen in double-door models.
Automatic Defrost And Smart Cooling Features
The refrigerators are powered by Whirlpool’s 6th Sense IntelliFrost technology. This detects ice accumulation and initiates defrosting automatically. So you don’t have to manually defrost the freezer. This also helps in maintaining consistent cooling and easier access to stored items.
Along with this, the new models also include a set of smart cooling modes designed to adapt to the user’s everyday usage. These include FlexiCool, which allows users to adjust cooling levels; Fast Forward Ice, which fastens the ice-making process; and Eco Mode, aimed at reducing energy consumption when usage is low.
The new refrigerators also have features aimed at improving food preservation. Both the VitamagicPro and IMPRO PLUS refrigerators include Microblock Technology. It helps in preventing bacterial growth and maintaining hygiene.
Whirlpool claims the IMPRO PLUS range can maintain freshness for up to 15 days, while the VitamagicPro models offer up to 12 days of freshness for fruits and vegetables.
The VitamagicPro range also includes Zeolite Technology, which helps absorb excess ethylene gas released by fruits and vegetables. It is a key factor in premature ripening. With this feature, the produce can remain fresh for longer and retain nutrients.
Price and Availability
The Whirlpool ‘No Tension Refrigerators’ range will be available in capacities ranging from 192 litres to 274 litres, with prices starting at Rs 17,700.
The lineup will be offered across 2-star to 5-star energy ratings and will be available through leading retail stores and online platforms across India.
Industry observers note that brands are increasingly adding premium features to entry and mid-range appliance segments as consumers look for better features without increasing their budgets. Features such as automatic defrosting, once limited to double-door refrigerators, are now being introduced in single-door models as well. This reflects a broader shift towards reducing manual effort and improving everyday usability in mass-market appliances.
