Xiaomi’s New Mijia Smart Air Fryer Isn’t Just For Frying, It Steams & Bakes Too

Xiaomi just expanded its smart home lineup with the launch of its new Mijia Smart Air Fryer Pro Steam & Bake Edition (6.5L) in China. This new appliance combines air frying, steaming, and baking capabilities. This reflects a broader push in the market towards multifunctional kitchen appliances.

The Mijia Smart Air Fryer Pro Steam & Bake Edition is designed mostly for medium to larger homes. It has a 6.5-litre capacity and a dual-layer rack that allows users to cook multiple dishes at once.

It also includes a built-in steam system, supported by a 1.5-litre water tank. This allows for longer cooking cycles without frequent refilling. Xiaomi says the system can be used for multiple cooking styles, including steaming, steam-frying and low-temperature cooking.

Xiaomi Mijia Smart Air Fryer Pro Steam & Bake Edition Features

On the design front, the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Air Fryer uses a 304 stainless steel inner cavity and a fluorine-free non-stick coating for the cooking basket. According to the company, this will offer improved durability and will be easier to clean.

This kitchen appliance has a 900W steam generator that can reach a temperature of up to 130°C, paired with a 360-degree hot air circulation system. With this combination, Xiaomi says users can get a balance of crisp textures and moisture retention. This addresses the main concern with conventional air fryers.

Users can adjust the cooking temperatures between 30°C and 230°C, allowing the device to be used across a wide range of recipes. The air fryer also supports 11 cooking modes, along with 31 preset recipes and additional cloud-based recipes accessible via the Mi Home app.

Speaking of the Mi Home app, the device supports smart controls via this app and is also compatible with HyperOS Connect and XiaoAI voice assistant. This allows for remote usage and integration with other smart home devices.

You also get features like a transparent viewing window, automatic power-off when the basket is removed, a deodorisation function, drying mode and a keep-warm function of up to 30 minutes.

According to industry observers, multifunctional kitchen appliances are gaining traction as people are looking to reduce the clutter in their kitchens and combine the cooking tasks into fewer devices. Products that combine multiple cooking methods with app-based controls are increasingly being positioned as convenient, space-saving solutions. Philips has also launched a similar device called One Chef in India.

Price and Availability

The Mijia Smart Air Fryer Pro Steam & Bake Edition (6.5L) is priced at 559 yuan (approximately $80) and is currently available in China on Xiaomi’s Youpin platform. We don’t know if the company will launch the product globally or not. The company was earlier offering Air Fryers in the Indian market, but they had quietly exited the market. We hope that the company revists its decision and we see the new range soon.
