Honor Magic 8 Lite premature listing appears, revealing key specifications ahead of launch

Honor X9d

Recently, Honor unveiled the Honor Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro flagship phones in China, and reports suggest that these phones could be heading to the global market soon. Recent reports have revealed that the global market will also receive a third model called the Magic 8 Lite, which will be an entry-level offering in the series. The device has been gradually bagging certifications as its launch draws near. After being spotted on the EMVCo authority, GCF, and Google Play Console Supported Devices list, a product content syndication platform listing has surfaced, revealing key specifications before the launch.

Honor Magic 8 Lite specifications

The Icecat listing reveals that the Honor Magic 8 Lite measures 161.9 x 76.1 x 7.76mm and weighs 189 grams. It has a 6.79-inch flat AMOLED screen that supports a 1.5K resolution of 1200 x 2640 pixels.

The Magic 8 Lite features a 16-megapixel front camera, while its back panel houses a 108-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens. While it runs on MagicOS 9.0, the exact version number is not mentioned in the listing.

The listing’s claim that the Magic 8 Lite is powered by an older Snapdragon 650 chip is incorrect. The Google Play Console listing identifies it as SM6650, hinting that it could be equipped with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4.

Readers can disregard the chipset configuration mentioned in the Play Console, which incorrectly points to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Multiple Geekbench listings also suggest that the device is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4. After all, the Magic 8 Lite is believed to be a tweaked version of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4-powered Honor X9d available in some markets.

While the Honor X9d packs an 8,300mAh battery, the Magic 8 Lite gets a smaller 7,500mAh battery. At present, there is no clarity about the fast-charging capabilities of the device.

The Magic 8 Lite is also equipped with other features such as dual SIM with eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and USB-C 2.0. Lastly, the device will be available in three shades: Midnight Black, Forest Green, and Sunrise Gold. As can be seen, the overall design is almost identical to the Honor X9d.

Honor Magic 8 Lite: Will it launch in India?

Honor did not release the Honor Magic 7 Lite in India. However, Indian consumers did receive the Honor X9c, which the Magic 8 Lite is based on. Therefore, while the Magic 8 Lite may not launch in India, it remains to be seen whether the Honor X9d will make its way to the Indian market in the coming days.
