Redmi will announce the Redmi K90 Max on April 21 in China. This device will be positioned between the Snapdragon 8-series models, such as the Redmi K90 and K90 Pro Max, which are already available in the market. The rumor mill has already revealed that it will be powered by a MediaTek chip. While official confirmation about the chipset may arrive in the next few days, its early Geekbench listing has revealed which SoC is under the hood.
Redmi K90 Max Geekbench listing
The screenshots above show that an upcoming Redmi phone with model number 2604FRK1EC has appeared in Geekbench’s database. Likely, this device could be the upcoming Redmi K90 Max. The listing reveals that it is powered by a MediaTek chip that includes a prime CPU core clocked at 4.21GHz.
It has three performance cores operating at 3.50GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 2.70GHz. For graphics, it features the Mali-G1-Ultra MC12 GPU. These details suggest that the K90 Max is powered by the Dimensity 9500, MediaTek’s most powerful chip so far.
The Geekbench listing further mentions 16GB of RAM and Android 16. In the single-core and multi-core tests, the device achieved 3513 and 10,711 points, respectively.
Redmi K90 Max specifications (rumoured)
As per other reports, the Redmi K90 Max will feature a 6.83-inch OLED panel offering a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. It will be Xiaomi’s first phone to include a built-in cooling fan.
Under the hood, the K90 Max will pack the Dimensity 9500 chip and a battery of around 8,500mAh capacity with 100W charging. Despite featuring a built-in fan, it is said to carry an IP68/69 rating for dust and water resistance.
Xpert Take
In recent years, Redmi has limited the K-series models to the Chinese market. Like the K90 and K90 Pro Max, the K90 Max may not be released in markets outside of China. In the global market, the K90 and K90 Pro Max are rebranded as the Poco F8 Pro and F8 Ultra.
While the F8 Pro and F8 Ultra are available globally, they are not sold in India. Poco is yet to launch the Poco F8, and there are mixed rumours about its existence. If it does launch, it would be good to see the Redmi K90 Max arrive as its rebranded version. Even if that happens, it remains unclear whether it will be called the Poco F8 or something else.
