The TECNO POVA Curve was recently launched in India as the brand’s latest affordable smartphone. It features a 144Hz AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate SoC, a 64MP dual rear camera setup, and is also India’s slimmest device, boasting a large 5,500mAh battery. Priced at Rs 15,999, it competes with serious contenders like OPPO K13, CMF Phone 2 Pro, and Vivo T4x with 7,000mAh, 5000mAh, and 6,500mAh batteries, respectively. We compared the TECNO POVA Curve against these smartphones in battery drain and charging tests to determine if it’s one of the best battery smartphones in India under Rs 20,000.
Battery Drain Test: Vivo T4x beats OPPO K13 by a narrow margin
To test the battery life endurance of each device, we ran the PCMark Battery test app on each of these phones. For this test, we charged all smartphones to 100% and ran the app. For the uninitiated, the PCMark Battery test simulates real-life usage scenarios, such as web browsing, video playback, document editing, and even gaming, to gauge battery endurance.
The TECNO POVA Curve lasted 14 hours and 44 minutes on the PCMark Battery test, which is impressive for a budget phone. Having said that, it was also the lowest score in this comparison. The OPPO K13, with its 7,000mAh battery, and the Vivo T4x, with a 6,500mAh unit, lasted well over 24 hours of non-stop usage, which is seriously impressive. The CMF Phone 2 Pro was a close third, with a PCMark Battery test score of around 18 hours.
We can attribute this to the varying battery capacities of these devices, as, barring the OPPO K13, which the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 SoC powers, all devices have a variant of the Dimensity 7300 mobile platform under their hood. When it comes to battery backup, opt for the devices with the largest batteries, specifically the OPPO K13 and Vivo T4x.
Charging Test: Techno Pova Curve wins this round
For the charging test, we completely drained each device to 0% battery and then charged it to 100% using the bundled charger. Here’s how long each of these devices took to charge from 0-100%.
Thanks to the combination of a smaller 5500 mAh Battery + 45W Flash Charging technology, the TECNO POVA Curve charges the fastest in just 55 minutes. The Vivo T4x and OPPO K13 charged the slowest due to their massive battery sizes and comparatively slower charging speeds. The CMF Phone 2 Pro is slightly slower than the TECNO offering, despite a smaller battery, because of the 33W charging speed.
Verdict
The TECNO POVA Curve is a great budget offering with a solid, whole-day battery backup and fast charging speeds. If you are a regular user with a moderate usage pattern, the TECNO POVA Curve will serve you well. However, if you are a power user with several hours of intense gaming, video streaming, and other resource-hungry tasks on your roster, then the OPPO K13 and Vivo T4x are the best options out of these four. The CMF Phone 2 Pro will also see you through a day, but is the weakest link in this comparison.
