Redmi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 17 series on July 14 in China. At the same time, it is also preparing for the global launch, as the Note 17 series models are busy bagging approvals in different markets. Globally, the Note 17 lineup will include not only 5G models but also 4G offerings. One of the 4G variants has just bagged approval from Thailand’s NBTC certification platform. At the same time, the Redmi 17 (4G) has also received an important certification.
Redmi Note 17 (4G) NBTC, TKDN certified

As can be seen above, the upcoming Redmi Note 17 bearing the model number 26012RN62A has been approved by the NBTC authority. The listing confirms that it lacks support for 5G connectivity.
To recall, this device was spotted along with its other regional versions, 26012RN62Y and 26012RN62L, in the GSMA IMEI database back in May. The model number ending with the letter “Y” has also emerged in the databases of Singapore’s IMDA and Indonesia’s TKDN certification platforms. As can be seen in the screenshot below, this device has also appeared in Indonesia’s SDPPI certification.
The variant ending with “L” was spotted at the FCC certification last month. The FCC listing revealed that it will be available in multiple variants, including 4GB+128GB, 6GB+128GB, 6GB+256GB, 6GB+512GB, 8GB+256GB, and 8GB+512GB. There is speculation that another handset with the model number 26012PC62G is a rebranded version of the Note 17 (4G), which may launch as the Poco M9 (4G). There are also rumors that the Redmi Note 17 (4G) / Poco M9 (4G) could be equipped with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 2.
Redmi 17 (4G) SDPPI certified

Indonesia’s SDPPI authority has also approved the Redmi 17 (4G) with the model number 2606FRN72Y. This device was previously spotted in Singapore’s IMDA database. The specifications of this device are still under wraps, but recent reports suggest that the upcoming Poco C95 Pro 4G with the model number 2606FPC72Y will be a rebadged version of the Redmi 17 (4G).
Redmi 17 (5G) / Poco variant BIS certified

Another development is that the Redmi 17 (5G) with the model number 26062RN92I and its Poco rebranded edition with the model number 26062PC92I were recently approved by India’s BIS authority. Recent certifications have revealed that its global version will offer up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage, a 7,500mAh battery, and 45W charging.
Xpert Take
At present, it is still too early to understand how the Redmi Note 17, Redmi 17, and their Poco counterparts differ from each other. It is advisable to wait for further reports to get a clearer picture of the lineup and their positioning. Also, as there are several 4G models in the works, this could be one of the company’s ways to tackle rising memory costs.
At present, there is no clarity on whether the 4G versions of the Redmi 17 and Redmi Note 17 are heading to India. As mentioned above, the Redmi 17 (5G) has bagged BIS approval and is expected to launch in India. The Redmi Note 17 5G and its Poco variant have also received BIS approval and the other Note 17 5G series variants are also expected to get certified in India soon. At present, there is no information about their India launch timeframe.
