The interesting thing about flagship performance is how quickly identical specifications stop producing identical results. Three phones in this guide use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, yet after 45 minutes of Genshin Impact, their average frame rates range from 39.4 fps to 107.9 fps, with the third reaching 77.5 fps. That is almost a threefold difference from the same chipset under the same test conditions. The processor sets the ceiling, but cooling, power management and software determine how much of it remains available once the heat builds.

That is where flagship phones become difficult to judge from specifications alone. Two devices can share the same processor, memory standard and storage class and still deliver very different sustained performance. One can maintain its frame rate through a long gaming session, while another starts strongly and then reduces performance as temperatures rise. On a specification sheet, there is little to distinguish them.

That is why the longer tests carry more weight here. I put all nine phones through identical synthetic benchmarks, 20-loop stress tests with an external thermal probe recording chassis temperatures, frame-time captures across four games and full battery rundowns to shutdown. Peak scores are included for context, but at this level they tell only part of the story. The more useful measure is what each phone can sustain once the workload has had time to expose its thermal and power-management limits.

Two devices outside the table shape several of these rows. How I Tested These Smartphones

One methodology, applied identically across all nine units.

Test Conditions: Retail devices on publicly released firmware, benched at a controlled 28°C ambient, on the highest-specification variant available for each model.

Performance: AnTuTu v10 and Geekbench 6 for CPU, GPU and on-device AI throughput, three passes each with a fifteen-minute cooldown, median reported.

Sustained Load: Twenty consecutive 3DMark Wild Life Extreme loops with chassis temperature logged by external probe. At this price the stability percentage matters more than the peak score, because every phone here is fast enough that what you feel is the decline rather than the ceiling.

Gaming: BGMI, Minecraft, Genshin Impact and Asphalt 9 over extended sessions with frame times captured. The average describes the session; the 5% low describes its worst stretches.

Battery: PCMark Work 3.0 looped at fixed brightness until shutdown, with runtime per 1,000 mAh derived from that figure and the rated capacity. PCMark is Android-only, so the two iPhones carry no comparable result.

A note on camera awards: the camera scoring columns in this test cycle were left unpopulated for all nine devices, so the camera award below is made on verified sensor hardware, optical configuration and measured AI-processing throughput rather than on scored image comparisons. Where that changes the confidence level, it is said plainly.

The Phones In Detail

OnePlus 15 — Best Overall & Best Battery Under ₹100k

The OnePlus 15 is the only phone in this guide that finishes near the top of both the performance tables and the endurance tables, which is what the overall award is supposed to mean.

Why We Picked It

The OnePlus 15 makes its strongest case by combining top-tier peak performance with the best battery result in this comparison. Its AnTuTu score of 3,932,097 is the highest recorded here, while its Geekbench 6 multi-core result of 10,450 is second only to the Samsung Galaxy S26+. The AnTuTu lead over the iQOO 15 is only around 1%, so the benchmark margin itself is not especially meaningful. The more significant result is its 27h 13min PCMark runtime, the longest in the comparison by 2h 46min. It achieves that from a 7,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery, the largest here, with a normalised result of 3h 44min per 1,000 mAh, just two minutes behind the Vivo X300 FE.

Charging further strengthens the battery case. Its 120W wired charging is the fastest in this guide, ahead of 100W on the iQOO 15 and 90W on the Motorola, while 50W wireless charging is also supported. iQOO 15 — Best Gaming / Performance & Best Display Under ₹100k

Two awards, both won by margins that are not close, on a phone that costs ₹17,000 less than the overall winner.

Why We Picked It

The iQOO 15 separates itself most clearly in sustained gaming, where its results are ahead of the rest of the field. In Genshin Impact, the most demanding title in the test suite, it averaged 107.9 fps with a 5% low of 82.1 fps. The next-best average was 77.5 fps from the OnePlus 15, while the next-highest frame floor was 58 fps on the iPhone 17. The iQOO’s 5% low therefore exceeds every other phone’s average. BGMI tells a similar story, with an average of 119.6 fps and a 5% low of 115.9 fps, both the highest in the comparison. Its 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score of 7,127 also leads the group.

The display is another clear strength. I measured 3,710 nits with auto brightness enabled, 630 nits higher than the iPhone 17 and the brightest result in this guide. It is also the only phone here with a 1440p-class panel, running at 3168 × 1440 with 508 ppi compared with 446 to 460 ppi on the other devices. The 144 Hz refresh rate completes a display specification that is unusually strong even within this flagship group.

Battery life is good, although it does not match the very best result here. Its 23h 45min PCMark runtime places it third, while the 7,000 mAh battery manages 3h 24min per 1,000 mAh. Charging is rated at 100W wired and 40W wireless.

The price of that gaming performance becomes apparent in the stress tests. Its 3DMark stability of 58.3% is the second-lowest in the comparison, ahead of only the Samsung Galaxy S26+, meaning it surrendered more than 40% of its graphics throughput across 20 loops. The chassis reached 44.2°C, while CPU throttling stability was also low at 58%. The 45-minute Genshin Impact run shows that this does not translate into a major practical collapse during the tested session, but the stress results indicate that the phone uses a large part of its thermal headroom to sustain its high performance.

Asphalt 9 provides a less consistent result. Its 5% low of 22.8 fps is the weakest among the award-winning phones, despite the much stronger Genshin Impact results. It is an outlier in the gaming data and is worth keeping in mind rather than trying to reconcile with the other results.

The Find X9s has the most complete camera hardware in this guide and the measured AI throughput to process it.

Why We Picked It

The Oppo Find X9s makes its strongest case through the combination of camera hardware and unusually strong on-device AI performance. It uses three 50 MP cameras, including an OIS-equipped main sensor, a 120° ultrawide and an OIS-equipped periscope telephoto, all tuned by Hasselblad. A 32 MP front camera is also included, while Dolby Vision 4K60 recording is available across all four cameras. That last point is particularly useful here, as the Find X9s does not reserve its highest-quality video mode for the main sensor.

The AI results give the camera hardware a strong foundation. In Geekbench AI, the Find X9s scored 11,468 in NPU Quantised and 8,339 in NPU Half Precision. At ₹62,499 the Signature is ₹14,500 cheaper than anything else in this guide and gives up far less than that gap suggests.

Why We Picked It

The Motorola Signature is one of the more interesting value propositions in this comparison because its performance is much closer to the top of the table than its price suggests. Its AnTuTu score of 3,044,435 is within 0.2% of the Oppo Find X9s, despite the Motorola costing ₹17,500 less. Its Geekbench 6 multi-core score of 8,921 also exceeds both the Find X9s and iPhone 17. BGMI averaged 118.3 fps with a 106.3 fps 5% low, placing it third overall and close enough to the leaders that the difference should be difficult to notice in play. Its PCMark Work 3.0 score of 20,323 is second-highest, while its AnTuTu storage score of 247,338 trails only the Xiaomi 17.

The camera system is unusually comprehensive. Motorola uses four 50 MP Sony LYTIA sensors: an LYT-828 main camera with OIS, a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP LYT-600 periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and OIS, and a 50 MP LYT-500 front camera. It also carries a DXOMARK Gold Label. On hardware alone, that is arguably the more complete setup than the Oppo Find X9s. The camera award was the closest call in this guide, with the Find X9s ultimately taking it because its measured AI-processing performance was in another class. The Signature scored 905 in the NPU Quantised test, compared with 11,468 for the Oppo.

Software is another clear advantage. Motorola promises seven years of OS and security updates through Hello UX, which is also the least cluttered Android interface in this comparison. The iQOO 15 offers five OS upgrades and seven years of security patches, while Oppo promises five years of OS updates. The measured results reveal some significant compromises, however. Its 15h 30min PCMark battery result is the second-shortest among the seven phones with valid results, ahead of only the Samsung Galaxy S26+. The 5,200 mAh battery manages 2h 59min per 1,000 mAh. Display brightness is another weakness: I measured 1,929 nits, the second-lowest result here and less than half the iQOO 15’s 3,710 nits. It is also 830 nits behind the next phone despite Motorola’s 6,200-nit claim.

Sustained performance is similarly compromised. CPU throttling stability fell to 51%, the lowest recorded in the comparison, while the chassis reached 44.7°C. Genshin Impact averaged 57.4 fps but dropped to a 5% low of 21.9 fps, the largest gap between average and frame-floor performance among the award winners. The Signature is therefore extremely capable for the money, but its battery endurance, display brightness and sustained-load behaviour prevent that performance from translating into an equally strong all-round result.

The iPhone 17 takes a different approach to flagship performance, with its compact design delivering the strongest sustained results in the comparison. At 149.6 × 71.5 × 7.95 mm and 177 g around a 6.27-inch display, it is the only genuinely one-handed phone in this guide. The Vivo X300 FE and Xiaomi 17 are similar in screen size at 6.31 and 6.3 inches, respectively, but both use noticeably larger bodies.

That compact chassis does not appear to compromise thermal performance. Sustained performance changes that picture considerably. Its 3DMark stress stability of 49% is the lowest recorded here, meaning the phone lost more than half of its graphics throughput over the 20-loop run. That helps explain the gap between its leading Geekbench GPU result and its 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score of 5,106, which trails the OnePlus 15, iQOO 15, Oppo Find X9s and Motorola Signature. Minecraft tells a similar story, averaging 49 fps with a 46.1 fps low, the weakest result among the nine phones.
