A fresh design patent filing has shed light on Realme’s possible next step in the audio space. The listing was spotted in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) global design database. While companies often secure multiple design ideas before finalizing a commercial product, the new sketches offer a detailed look at what Realme could be preparing for its future wireless earbuds.

The above patent images showcase a design that is different from the usual in-ear or stem-based earbuds. The new concept resembles a clip-style form factor, where the earbuds feature a rounded structure with curved lines that could fit securely around the ear.

From different angles, the design looks like it is intended to offer stability during use, possibly making it a better option for fitness or outdoor activities. The images also highlight areas resembling speaker grills and sensor cut-outs, suggesting that these earbuds could come with touch controls or health-tracking features.

Currently, Realme’s audio lineup mainly includes in-ear TWS earbuds such as the Realme Buds Air series and Buds Q series, along with neckband-style earphones under the Buds Wireless range. It is too early to say when clip-style earbuds will hit the market. However, the filing shows Realme’s intent to experiment beyond traditional earbud formats.

Realme GT 8 series rumours

In related news, Realme is working on the Realme GT 8 series of flagship phones for China. The GT 8 is expected to focus on aspects like display, chipset, and battery life. The GT 8 Pro, on the other hand, will also excel in these departments, along with featuring an impressive camera setup, which is said to include a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

The GT 8 and GT 8 Pro are said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite and 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets, respectively. Both devices are expected to launch in China, and there’s no clarity on whether both phones will be released globally. However, the GT 8 Pro is expected to be released globally in November this year.
