The rumour mill has been consistently leaking details about the Galaxy Buds 4 series of TWS earbuds. In a new development, the lineup has received an important certification, indicating that the launch may not be far away.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 4, Buds 4 Pro SIRIM certified
As can be seen above, the Galaxy Buds 4 (SM-R540) and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro (SM-640) have received approval from Malaysia’s SIRIM authority, hinting that the launch could be drawing near.
Samsung is expected to hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event by late February to unveil the Galaxy S26 lineup. It remains to be seen whether the Buds 4 series will debut alongside the S26 family.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 4, Buds 4 Pro: What’s revealed in rumours so far?
The upcoming Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro have surfaced multiple times through One UI 8.5 firmware leaks. Both models are expected to move away from the sharp, angular design language of the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, instead adopting flatter stems and a more refined, minimal look.
The regular Galaxy Buds 4 are tipped to feature a semi-open fit aimed at everyday comfort, while the Pro variant is likely to retain silicone ear tips to deliver stronger passive isolation and more effective noise cancellation.
Another noticeable change could be the charging case. Leaks indicate that Samsung may shift to a horizontal, flat-lay case design, replacing the vertical insertion style used on the previous generation. The Galaxy Buds 4 Pro case is also rumoured to get a small battery upgrade to around 530 mAh, compared to 515 mAh on the Buds 3 Pro.
On the software side, one of the most talked-about additions is “Head Gestures.” This feature may allow users to nod or shake their head to answer calls, dismiss notifications, or respond to AI-driven prompts without touching the earbuds. Other rumoured upgrades include improved adaptive noise control, 360-degree audio recording, smoother device pairing, and a Find Your Phone function integrated into the case. Colour options may also expand, with the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro expected to debut in an Apricot finish featuring a pink body and rose gold-toned metallic stems. Current leaks point to an early 2026 launch, possibly alongside the next Galaxy S series.

Based on what has surfaced so far, the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro appear to be a refinement-focused update rather than a bold leap forward. Samsung seems keen to move past the polarising Galaxy Buds 3 design, opting for a cleaner stem shape and a more conventional case layout. The addition of head gesture controls could genuinely improve hands-free usability, especially for users already invested in Samsung’s ecosystem and AI features.
However, when compared with the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, the upgrades feel incremental. Battery gains look modest, and much will depend on whether comfort, tuning, and noise cancellation see real-world improvements. If Samsung maintains the strong audio quality of the previous generation while fixing design complaints, the Buds 4 Pro could be a sensible upgrade.
