Air fryers in India are steadily moving beyond compact snack-making appliances into something much larger: full meal cooking systems. That shift has pushed brands toward dual-basket and higher-capacity designs, especially as more households begin using air fryers for everyday cooking instead of occasional fries or frozen snacks.
The problem, however, is that most large-capacity air fryers also become significantly harder to live with. Dual-basket models often take up an enormous amount of kitchen counter space, making them difficult to fit into compact modular kitchens or leave permanently plugged in for daily use.
That is the problem INALSA appears to be targeting with its newly launched Nutri Fry DuoSlim, a 14L dual-zone air fryer that uses a vertical stacked design instead of the wider horizontal layouts that have become common in this category.
Priced at Rs 13,999, the new model combines two independent 7L cooking baskets with separate heating systems, temperature controls, and cooking timers. But the more interesting part is not the raw capacity itself. It is the attempt to deliver larger cooking volumes without dramatically increasing the appliance’s countertop footprint.
Dual-Basket Air Fryers Are Becoming More Relevant in Indian Kitchens
The rise of dual-zone air fryers reflects how usage patterns are changing. Earlier air fryers were mostly positioned around low-oil fries, nuggets, and reheating. Now brands are increasingly pushing them as alternatives for preparing larger portions and even complete meals.
That shift also changes what buyers begin prioritising. As we noted in our guide on air fryer capacity and what actually matters for Indian households, larger capacities become genuinely useful once households start cooking multiple food components simultaneously rather than just single snacks.
Dual baskets help solve part of that problem. Users can prepare separate dishes together without mixing flavours or compromising cooking temperatures. In Indian households, that can translate into cooking fries and kebabs together, preparing separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, or simply managing different meal timings more efficiently.
The Nutri Fry DuoSlim attempts to build around exactly those use cases with two independent 1400W heating systems delivering a combined 2800W output. Both baskets can operate separately with temperature ranges between 80°C and 200°C.
The Slim Vertical Design Is the Bigger Story Here
Most dual-basket air fryers become substantially wider than standard models, which creates a practical usability issue many buyers only notice after purchase. Large horizontal layouts can occupy nearly the same counter width as smaller microwave ovens, making storage and everyday placement difficult in tighter kitchens.
INALSA’s approach here is noticeably different. Instead of placing both baskets side by side, the DuoSlim stacks them vertically, allowing the appliance to maintain a narrower footprint despite the larger 14L total capacity.
That design decision could make more sense for Indian kitchens where vertical appliance expansion is often easier to accommodate than wider horizontal layouts. It also reflects a broader direction the air fryer category seems to be moving toward: larger cooking capacity without turning appliances into occasional-use countertop machines.
At the same time, designs like these eventually raise their own real-world performance questions. In our own side-by-side air fryer testing experience, factors such as airflow consistency, basket shape, preset tuning, and cooking uniformity often mattered far more than headline wattage or capacity numbers alone.
For vertically stacked systems specifically, consistency between the upper and lower baskets becomes particularly important during longer cooking cycles and denser food loads.
Sync Finish, Viewing Windows, and Multi-Dish Cooking
Beyond the hardware layout, INALSA has also added features clearly aimed at improving everyday usability rather than just boosting specifications.
The appliance includes Sync Finish Technology, which aligns cooking completion timing across both baskets even if dishes are being cooked at different temperatures or durations. The goal is fairly practical: ensuring separate dishes finish together without manual intervention midway through cooking.
The DuoSlim also integrates reinforced viewing windows and internal basket lighting, allowing users to monitor food without repeatedly opening the drawers and disrupting heat circulation.
INALSA has additionally included:
- 10 preset cooking modes
- Adjustable display positioning
- Integrated roasting racks
- Support for cooking up to four food components simultaneously
Large Air Fryers Are Slowly Moving Into Premium Territory
The launch also highlights how the Indian air fryer segment is gradually shifting upward in pricing and positioning.
Brands like Philips India, Havells, Nuuk, and premium international players such as Ninja have increasingly started focusing on larger capacities, dual-basket cooking, and more appliance-like positioning rather than simply selling “healthy frying” as the main narrative.
That evolution mirrors what is happening in actual kitchens. Buyers are increasingly evaluating these products less like secondary gadgets and more like everyday cooking appliances that need to justify permanent kitchen space, higher pricing, and repeated daily usage. However, how much of a problem solving device it will be, we will be looking at that in our review.
