Redmi is reportedly working on the Redmi Note 17 for the Indian market. If rumours are to be believed, it is set to debut on August 6 in India. That seems likely, as the device has already appeared in the database of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Now, in a fresh development, the Indian variant has also surfaced on the Geekbench benchmarking platform.
Indian Redmi Note 17’s Geekbench listing
As seen in the image above, a Xiaomi phone with the model number 26021RN18I has appeared in Geekbench’s database. This model number belongs to the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 17.
The Geekbench listing reveals that the Redmi Note 17 is equipped with the Qualcomm SM4450 chip, which is none other than the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 with Adreno 613 GPU. To recall, the Redmi Note 17 5G, which recently debuted in China, is also powered by the same chipset.
The Indian variant has been spotted with 8GB of RAM and Android 16. It achieved 950 points in the single-core test and 2,324 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench.
Redmi Note 17 specifications (rumoured)
Reports suggest that the Indian version of the Redmi Note 17 will feature the same specifications as its Chinese counterpart. It is expected to feature a 7-inch OLED display with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 4 Gen 4-powered handset is also expected to pack an 8,000mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging.
For photography, the device is expected to feature an 8-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel rear camera. It is likely to ship with HyperOS 3 based on Android 16 and may receive up to four Android OS upgrades along with five years of security updates. The top-end variant is expected to offer 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Redmi has typically launched its new Note series models in India a couple of months after their debut in China, giving rival brands enough time to strengthen their position in the segment. An earlier launch of the Redmi Note 17, which is expected in August, could help the company stay ahead of the competition and maintain momentum in the highly competitive mid-range smartphone market.
In recent years, Redmi’s Note series has shifted towards a performance-focused approach rather than positioning itself as an all-round mid-range lineup with standout cameras. It remains to be seen how Indian buyers respond to the Redmi Note 17’s performance-first strategy.
