Vivo unveiled the Vivo X Fold 6 in China in June, and initial reports suggested that the foldable could make its way to India around the same time. However, its arrival appeared to be delayed, especially after Vivo missed the launch window of the previous generation, with the Vivo X Fold 5 having been announced in July 2025. Now, the Vivo X Fold 6 has received an important certification, suggesting that its Indian launch could finally be on track.
Vivo X Fold 6 BIS certified
The screenshot above shows the Vivo X Fold 6 with model number V2559 listed in the database of India’s BIS certification. Previously, the same device was spotted with the Vivo X Fold 6 moniker in certification databases such as SIRIM in Malaysia and SDPPI in Indonesia.
As expected, the BIS listing does not reveal any specifications. However, the device is expected to retain the same specifications as the Chinese variant.
Vivo X Fold 6 specifications
The Vivo X Fold 6 features a 6.51-inch cover display and an 8.02-inch inner foldable screen. The device is powered by the Dimensity 9500 Super chipset and packs a large 7,000mAh battery with support for 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.
For selfies and video calls, the X Fold 6 has a 20-megapixel camera on both the cover display and the inner screen. On the rear, the phone features a triple-camera setup comprising a 20-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

The foldable smartphone market is evolving as more brands explore wider folding form factors. Samsung has already adopted a similar approach with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, while Apple’s rumoured foldable iPhone, which is currently being referred to as the iPhone Ultra, is also expected to adopt a wider design.
While Vivo remains the leading brand in the Indian smartphone market, Samsung continues to have a strong lead in the country’s foldable segment. On paper, the X Fold 6 offers an impressive set of specifications, but it could still face stiff competition from the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series.
Vivo is also expected to introduce a wider foldable smartphone in 2027. If those plans materialise, the device could reach the Indian market in the second half of 2027, giving Vivo another opportunity to compete more aggressively in the premium foldable segment.
