Redmi is reportedly working on the Redmi 17 and Redmi Note 17 series of smartphones for multiple markets, including India. Ahead of the expected launch, it is common for these devices to appear on certification platforms. In the latest development, Redmi 17 and Redmi Note 17 models have appeared in fresh certifications.

As can be seen above, two Redmi devices bearing model numbers 2606FRN72Y and 26012RN62Y have appeared in the database of Singapore’s IMDA certification platform.

Speculation surrounding the 2606FRN72Y suggests that it will be called the Redmi 17 (4G) when it hits the market. A previous report by XiaomiTime revealed that it will be a budget-focused phone powered by the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset. The publication also revealed that it will have country variants, such as 2606FRN72Y and 2606FRN72L.

The publication further revealed that it will have a Poco-branded version called the Poco C95 Pro. This device is said to carry model numbers such as 2606FPC72Y and 2606FPC72L.

Coming to the 26012RN62Y, this device is said to have two more variants, such as 26012RN62L and 26012RN62A. One of them has already been spotted with the Redmi Note 17 moniker at the GSMA database last month. While its specifications are not known yet, it is also believed to lack support for 5G connectivity.

Recently, a device believed to be part of the Redmi Note 17 series with model number 26081RA18G was approved by the EEC authority. Now, in a new development, another device with model number 2607DRA18C has appeared on China’s CMIIT certification platform.

The 2607DRA18C device is also believed to be part of the Redmi Note 17 lineup, but its exact moniker is not known yet. It is speculated that the Note 17 lineup will comprise three models: the Note 17 (codenamed Moscow), Note 17 Pro (codenamed Brussels), and Note 17 Pro Max (codenamed Chicago). All three devices are said to feature Snapdragon chipsets.

Xpert Pick

The Redmi 17 (4G) and Note 17 (4G) do not appear to have an Indian variant, and the same applies to its Poco counterpart of the Redmi 17. This indicates that these devices may not launch in India. However, the Redmi 17 and Note 17 series are also expected to include 5G options, which are more likely to arrive in the Indian market later this year.

The Redmi Note 17 series is expected to break cover in July or August in China. As far as India and global launches are concerned, Redmi is likely to unveil the Note 17 family shortly after its China debut.
