Poco is reportedly working on the Poco X8 series of smartphones. Reports suggest that the lineup may not include the standard Poco X8, but it may still have two powerful mid-rangers, namely the Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max. The arrival of the X8 series seems imminent, as the Pro variant has bagged approval from Thailand’s NBTC authority.

Thailand’s NBTC approves Poco X8 Pro – Iron Man Edition

The above screenshot shows that the Poco X8 Pro Iron Man Edition, bearing the model number 2511FPC34G, has been approved by Thailand’s NBTC authority. While the listing does not reveal anything significant, the moniker indicates that it could be a special variant with Iron Man-themed design elements such as themed colours, branding, and exclusive wallpapers.

The existence of the special edition also hints that the regular Poco X8 Pro could debut around the same time. Recently, the Poco X8 Pro Max was approved by India’s BIS authority, which suggests that both models may break cover simultaneously.

Poco X8 Pro specifications (rumoured)

Redmi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Max with Dimensity 8500 and Dimensity 9500 chipsets, respectively, in the coming week. Speculation is rife that the Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max could be based on the Redmi Turbo 5 series.

It is believed that the Redmi Turbo 5 series will feature a 1.5K OLED panel and a 9,000mAh battery. Unfortunately, the rumour mill is yet to leak concrete details about the Turbo models. Hopefully, upcoming reports will reveal more information about these phones.

Xpert Take

The alleged absence of the Poco X8 this year suggests that Poco is restructuring its lineup. While the Poco X8 was initially thought to be based on the Redmi Note 15 Pro, newer reports claim that the Poco M8 Pro will be based on this Redmi phone.

The Poco X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max rumours suggest that these will be more powerful devices, likely marketed as affordable flagships. With newer chipsets and larger batteries onboard, Poco fans should expect a higher price tag of around Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 for the X8 Pro, considering improved hardware and rising memory chip costs.

While the Poco X8 series may feature a decent primary camera, these are not meant to be photography-focused offerings. Those interested in camera-centric phones in this price range can opt for the Oppo Reno 15 series or the forthcoming Vivo V70 lineup.
