Oppo has confirmed that it will unveil the Reno 16 series in China. At the same time, the Reno 16 models are being spotted on different certification platforms, which suggests that the global launch may happen in June or July. In the latest development, the Oppo Reno 16F has bagged yet another certification, suggesting a wider launch.
Oppo Reno 16F GCF certified
As seen above, the Oppo phone bearing model number CPH2859 has surfaced in GCF’s database. It means the smartphone has passed global network compatibility testing, indicating that its launch could be getting closer.
This device was previously spotted on Thailand’s NBTC and the UAE’s TDRA certification platforms with the Oppo Reno 16F 5G moniker. It has also appeared at the TUV certification with support for an 80W fast charger. Its NBD database listing has revealed that it could arrive in a 12GB+512GB configuration.
At the same time, the Oppo CPH2865 phone, which is believed to be a part of the Reno 16 series, has also emerged in databases of GCF as well as Singapore’s IMDA in the recent past. This model has been spotted with a 6.587-inch display, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of internal storage. Its screen size suggests that this could be the standard Reno 16.
Apart from these two devices, the Reno 16 Pro with model number CPH2863 has also been spotted on NBTC and TDRA certification platforms. Its NBD database listing has hinted at the existence of a 12GB+512GB configuration as well.
Xpert Take
Speculations are rife that the Reno 16 series debuting in China this month will include three models, namely the Reno 16c, Reno 16, and Reno 16 Pro. The details of the Reno 16c are not known yet, but the Reno 16 is believed to be a compact model featuring a 6.3-inch screen and a Dimensity 8500 chipset. On the other hand, the Reno 16 Pro is said to pack a 6.78-inch display and the Dimensity 9500s.
Oppo is known for launching two generations of Reno series phones every year. Usually, the models launched globally in the first half of the year receive camera-focused upgrades, whereas the second-half launches focus more on hardware improvements, mainly updated chipsets. Therefore, the Reno 16 series may retain the camera capabilities of the Reno 15 lineup while offering better performance.
