Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon C Platform, a new entry-level processor designed to make modern personal computing more affordable for students, families, and customer-facing small businesses.
The new silicon targets laptops starting at the $300 price point, focusing heavily on delivering responsive performance and a highly efficient, cool, and quiet computing experience.
The platform is optimised for the daily workloads people rely on most in budget-friendly machines, such as smooth web browsing, video streaming, productivity applications, and video calls.
Crucially, despite its entry-level positioning, Qualcomm has included an integrated NPU to bring localised AI capabilities to the budget segment for the first time.
In a press statement, Kedar Kondap, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Compute and Gaming at Qualcomm, highlighted the value of the new tier: “As costs rise and customer expectations evolve, Snapdragon C brings together value-oriented computing, all-day battery life, AI capabilities and responsive performance in cool, quiet devices for expanded platform choice.”
Major hardware manufacturers, specifically Acer, HP, and Lenovo, are already locked in as ecosystem partners to develop laptops utilising the new processor.
While detailed individual hardware specifications and specific regional pricing matrices have not yet been made public, Qualcomm notes that devices powered by the Snapdragon C platform are expected to hit retail shelves later this year.
