Xiaomi launches Mijia Water Purifier 2 1600G Aimed at Reducing RO Maintenance

Xiaomi has expanded its smart home appliances lineup with the launch of the Mijia Water Purifier 2 1600G in China. It is a new under-sink water purifier that is focused on faster water dispensing and lower-long term maintenance.

According to the company, the purifier is aimed towards households that need higher water output without moving into the ultra-premium segment. One of the main features of this product is the 1600G flow rate, which Xiaomi says allows for significantly faster water dispensing compared to conventional RO systems.

Filter longevity has also been prioritised with the new Mijia Water Purifier 2. Xiaomi says that this RO’s filter can be used for up to 7 years, which is considerably longer than the replacement cycles seen in many home RO systems.

Mijia Water Purifier 2 1600G Features

The Mijia Water Purifier 2 1600G uses a dual-core precision filtration system which is designed to filter out contaminants like heavy metals, bacteria, viruses and organic pollutants. The company claims that the purifier system can remove up to 145 different contaminants during the purification process.

You even get to see Xiaomi’s “Zero Stagnant Water 3.0” technology on the new Mijia purifier. This is aimed at reducing leftover water inside the system between uses to improve freshness and hygiene. Further, Xiaomi says that it has designed the purifier to meet what it describes as “mother-and-baby-grade” healthy water standards, with BPA-free water output and no added scale inhibitors.

The Mijia Water Purifier 2 also complies with China’s highest national water-efficiency standards while achieving a 68.1% water purification rate, which is intended to reduce wastewater generation compared to traditional RO systems.

Just like most other Mijia appliances, this purifier is also expected to be a part of the Mi Home ecosystem, allowing users to monitor water quality, filter life and maintenance reminders through the app.

According to industry experts water purifiers are now becoming a bigger part of the smart home ecosystem, as consumers are looking beyond just basic purification. Faster dispensing, lower filter replacement costs, reduced water wastage and app-based monitoring, are some key factors that people are considering before making a decision. This is especially true for urban homes where long-term maintenance and convenience play a bigger role in buying decisions.

Mijia Water Purifier 2 1600G Price and Availability
