Poco X8 Pro Max bags yet another certification before launch

Poco X8 Pro Max

Poco is expected to announce the Poco X8 series of smartphones for the global market. Reports have revealed that while the standard X8 will not be part of the series, it will include the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max. While the brand inadvertently revealed variants and pricing of these models, it is yet to officially confirm the existence of the X8 lineup. Meanwhile, the X8 series is busy bagging new certifications before the official announcement. In the latest development, the Pro Max edition has received approval from the Indonesian TKDN certification platform.

A previously seen IMEI database listing revealed that a Poco smartphone bearing the model number 2602BPC18G will be called the Poco X8 Pro Max when it arrives in the market. So far, this device has been approved by Europe’s EEC and Singapore’s IMDA.

Now, as can be seen in the above screenshot, it has received approval from the Indonesian TKDN certification platform. While the listing has not revealed anything significant, it hints that it will be heading to the Indonesian market in the near future. The Indian edition of the device, which bears the 2602BPC18I model number, was spotted last month at the BIS certification.

The Poco X8 Pro Max is expected to be a rebadged version of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which recently debuted in China. The Redmi model has a 6.83-inch OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is powered by the Dimensity 9500s chip and a massive 9,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging. It has a 20-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual-camera system on the back. It is speculated that the Poco variant will pack a smaller 8,500mAh battery.

Xpert Take

The Poco X8 Pro Max’s growing list of certifications signals that POCO is sticking to its familiar strategy, which is nothing but repackaging Redmi hardware for a wider global reach. If it indeed arrives as a rebadged Redmi Turbo 5 Max, the focus will clearly be on aggressive performance and battery-centric positioning, especially with a large 9,000mAh cell and Dimensity 9500s chip.

However, Poco’s challenge in markets like India will be pricing and differentiation, as competition in the upper mid-range segment has intensified. Beyond raw specs, software stability, camera optimization, and long-term updates will likely decide whether the X8 Pro Max can stand out or simply blend into an increasingly crowded lineup.
