AMD Ryzen PRO 9000 Series Brings 3D V-Cache To Enterprise Workstations

AMD has introduced its Ryzen PRO 9000 Series desktop processors for commercial desktops and workstations. The new lineup expands AMD’s professional processor portfolio and brings 3D V-Cache technology to the enterprise workstation segment for the first time, according to the company’s announcement material.

The headline models are the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D and Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D. The Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D features 16 cores and 32 threads, a boost clock of up to 5.5 GHz, a 4.3 GHz base clock, 144 MB of total cache, and a 170 W TDP. The Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D comes with 8 cores and 16 threads, up to 5.2 GHz boost, a 4.7 GHz base clock, 104 MB of total cache, and a 120 W TDP.

The added cache is aimed at complex, data-heavy professional workloads. AMD is positioning the chips for media and entertainment, architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and design workflows. The company specifically mentions real-time 4K/8K editing, faster encoding, compositing, BIM, real-time visualisation, 3D CAD, simulation, and mechanical design as target use cases.

Non-X3D Models Go Up To 16 Cores And 170 W TDP

Alongside the X3D chips, AMD has also listed several non-X3D Ryzen PRO 9000 processors. The range includes the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965 with 16 cores, 32 threads, up to 5.5 GHz boost, 80 MB cache, and a 170 W TDP. The Ryzen 9 PRO 9955 and Ryzen 9 PRO 9945 both offer 12 cores and 24 threads, but differ in power profiles at 120 W and 65 W respectively.

The lineup also includes Ryzen 7 PRO 9755 and Ryzen 7 PRO 9745 models with 8 cores and 16 threads, alongside Ryzen 5 PRO 9655 and Ryzen 5 PRO 9645 models with 6 cores and 12 threads. These chips span 65 W and 120 W TDP options, giving OEMs more flexibility when designing compact commercial desktops or higher-performance workstation towers.

AMD says the Ryzen PRO 9000 Series is part of the AMD PRO platform, which includes enterprise-grade security, manageability, and long-term platform stability. Availability is expected to begin in the second half of 2026, with Lenovo among the first partners to showcase the processors in its ThinkStation P4 at NXTBLD. Pricing has not been disclosed yet.
