Recently, Redmi confirmed that it will announce the Redmi Note 17 series of smartphones in July in China. In the global and Indian markets, the brand is expected to launch the Note 17 series a couple of months after its China debut. Well ahead of the expected launch, the alleged Redmi Note 17 has emerged in the BIS certification database. Alongside it, its Poco variant has also received BIS approval.
Redmi Note 17, Poco M8 Plus BIS certified

As can be seen above, two Xiaomi devices bearing model numbers 2607DRA18I and 2607DPC18I have surfaced in the BIS database. These devices could be identical phones, with the former carrying Redmi branding and the latter being a Poco model.
Reports suggest that the 2607DRA18I device could be called the Redmi Note 17 when it arrives in India. Its Poco variant is rumoured to carry the Poco M8 Plus branding. At present, there is no information about the specifications of this device, but it may pack nearly identical internals to the Redmi Note 17.
Redmi Note 17 specifications
According to reports, the Redmi Note 17 heading to China will feature a flat 6.83-inch OLED panel. It is expected to support a 1.5K resolution and feature an in-screen fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood, it may feature the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip. It is expected to pack a large battery, but the exact capacity has not surfaced in any reports. Nevertheless, it is likely to support 67W wired charging.
The Note 17’s Chinese variant is likely to house a single 50-megapixel rear camera. It may offer other features, such as Android 16 with HyperOS 3.1 on top and a water-resistant body. It remains to be seen whether the global and Indian versions of the Note 17 will also pack the same specifications.
Xpert Pick
The Redmi Note series is said to become pricier than before and has not enjoyed the same popularity it used to. With rising memory costs, the Note 17 series is unlikely to be an affordable offering considering the specifications it is rumoured to pack.
To recall, the Redmi Note 15 was priced at Rs 22,999 at launch. As far as the Note 17 is concerned, it would not be surprising to see it arrive with a sub-Rs 30,000 price tag. It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi can justify the expected price increase with meaningful hardware upgrades and overall value.
