Redmi Note 17R CMIIT certified, could be the first Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 phone

Redmi 15 5G

Redmi is reportedly working on the Redmi Note 17 series of smartphones for the Chinese market. This suggests that the brand may skip the Note 16 lineup entirely following last year’s Note 15 series. The upcoming Note 17 lineup is expected to include multiple devices, one of which could be the Redmi Note 17R, an entry-level offering.

The Redmi Note 17R, which is said to carry the model number 26021RN18C for China, may launch ahead of the other Note 17 series models. The device was recently approved by China’s 3C and SRRC certification platforms, and it has now also received approval from the country’s MIIT authority.

The listing shown above reveals that a Xiaomi phone with the model number M025EC has been approved by the CMIIT authority. Neither its previously spotted certification listings nor the MIIT appearance has revealed any technical specifications. However, the listings suggest that the device could launch soon, possibly in June.

Rumors indicate that the Redmi Note 17R could become one of the first smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, which debuted in April. Reports also suggest that the device may launch globally under the Redmi 17 5G branding.

Redmi 17 5G specifications (rumoured)

A recent report by SmartPrix revealed that the Redmi 17 5G may feature a high-refresh-rate LCD display, a Snapdragon 4-series chipset, and a 7,000mAh+ battery. For photography, the device could offer a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies.

Xpert Pick

As mentioned earlier, the Redmi Note 17R may remain exclusive to the Chinese market, while global markets could receive the device as the Redmi 17 5G. This assumption is based on last year’s Redmi Note 15R, which launched as a rebranded Redmi 15 in some regions.

In India, the Redmi 15 5G debuted with a starting price of Rs 15,999. However, rising memory chip costs and increasing smartphone prices suggest that the Redmi 17 5G could arrive in the Indian market at a starting price of around Rs 20,000.
