Exclusive: LG Gram set for India comeback with Make in India push and Panther Lake CPUs

At the Intel Panther Lake launch, LG showcased its new Gram series laptops powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors. This marks the return of the LG Gram lineup after a hiatus, with the last model launching in 2023 featuring 13th Gen Core i5 and i7 processors.

The laptops showcased at the Intel chip launch event were imported from Korea and featured a Korean-spec keyboard.

Possible SKUs for the Upcoming LG Gram Laptop in India

LG showcased two SKUs at its stall: one 16-inch model and one 14-inch unit. Both featured a matte white finish and a lightweight design, which has long been the USP of the LG Gram series. While there is no official information on the chassis material, the imported units felt primarily polycarbonate.

Both laptops appeared to feature low key-travel keyboards, with a numpad included. The displays also seemed to have a matte coating, with the 16-inch model possibly being brighter.

In terms of weight, which the LG Gram series is known for, the 14-inch SKU is likely to be around 900 grams, according to the source.

LG Gram Laptop to Be Made in India

The reason for LG’s absence from the Indian market over the past couple of years is likely tied to its efforts to establish a local manufacturing setup.

LG Gram laptops are now poised to be manufactured in India, most likely at the company’s Pune facility in Maharashtra, which currently produces refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, and air conditioners.

With localised production, LG is likely aiming to bring down costs, with the 14-inch variant expected to be priced at around Rs 1 lakh.

The imported SKUs on display featured the non-X variants of the Intel Panther Lake lineup, but the Indian versions are likely to feature X7 series CPUs, which come with the newer and more powerful Intel Arc B390 iGPU.
